The Odell Lions Club's fall barbecue sale will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at the club hut, N.C. 73 West and Odell School Road. Plates with pork barbecue or barbecue chicken, plus barbecue beans, slaw and bread are $7. Pork sandwiches are $3 each or $10 for four. Proceeds support Lions programs for vision-impaired Cabarrus County people.

Twenty Carolinas high school bands will compete in the 29th annual Blue Devil Classic 1:30-9 p.m. Saturday at Mooresville High School. The Mooresville High band will perform in exhibition at 8:40 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under. Details:
