Concord

Playground opens: The city of Concord and Concord Rotary Club opened the new Everybody Plays Playground at McGee Park. The Rotary Club raised nearly $110,000 to build the playground, which is accessible to children in wheelchairs and includes areas designed for children with visual and hearing impairments.

Kannapolis

Road closure: A portion of Mount Olivet Road between the intersection of N.C. 3 and Maryland Avenue in Kannapolis will closed through late December for improvements. Details: 704-920-4200.

Cabarrus County

Early voting: Cabarrus County voters can vote at one of three one-stop voting locations in the county before Election Day on Nov. 2. One-stop voting at the county's Board of Elections Office, 53 Corban Ave., Concord, will be 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. People can also vote there 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 30. Beginning Oct. 25, two other sites will be available: Kannapolis Train Depot at 201 S. Main St., Kannapolis and the Harrisburg branch of the Cabarrus County Public Library at 201 Sims Parkway, Harrisburg. These locations will be open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 25-Oct. 29 and 9-a.m.-noon Oct. 30.
