Dana Heath, a Wachovia Bank service manager in downtown Kannapolis and a former graphic designer, recently opened Lilly Belle's Cake Creations as part of her Lilly Belle's Tea Party small-event planning and catering business.
"The cakes came about by accident," Heath said. "I have always loved to bake but went a little out of control on my daughter's fourth birthday cake last October. I made her a 'Supergirl' cake that got a big reaction from everybody who saw it.
"At that point, I was hooked on trying to make more custom-decorated cakes for people that might actually pay me to make them."
Heath works full-time for the bank and does her cake creations primarily on weekends.
