More community news coming your way

The Charlotte Observer is expanding its commitment to community news with a new newspaper for the greater Mooresville area that will be distributed Wednesdays starting Nov. 17.

Mooresville News joins four other community weekly newspapers, including Lake Norman News and Cabarrus News - both launched a year ago - and two editions of South Charlotte News.

Each Wednesday, Mooresville News will circulate to more than 34,000 households in Mooresville, Troutman, Sherrills Ford and Terrell. The ZIP codes served are 28115, 28117, 28166, 28682 and 28673.

We'll have local school news and high school sports along with news about religion, your neighbors, your love of cars and racing, the downtown, life at the lake and more.

We'd like to hear your story ideas about what's important to you. And we want your news and photos about your family, school, church and neighbors. E-mail your press releases to stories@newsofmooresville.com.

You can also enter event information online for the community calendar. Go to events.charlotteobserver.com and click on "add to our listings." E-mail photos to stories@newsofmooresville.com. The print deadline is two weeks in advance of the event date.

Tracy Yochum, a longtime Lake Norman resident, is the editor, and you can reach her at tyochum@newsofmooresville.com or 704-358-5929.

If you'd like to write freelance stories for Mooresville News, send a resume and writing sample to tyochum@newsofmooresville.com.
