For the second straight year, Big Al's Pub and Grubberia in the Brawley Commons shopping center will offer up to 200 free Thanksgiving Day meals to people in need.
The shopping center is on Brawley School Road at Williamson Road.
Owner Frank Conti will cook the entire meal, with assistance from his family.
People don't need to make a reservation. All they need to do is show up if they need a meal that day, said Conti's sister, Laurie Gagliano.
The restaurant will serve the meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. "We can feed 150 at a time," she said.
Big Al's worked with such agencies as the Iredell County Council on Aging and the American Red Cross in identifying people in need who could use a free meal that day, she said.
As of early last week, Big Al's also had scheduled 85 meals for home delivery, Gagliano said.
Thanksgiving Day meals also will be free to police and firefighters, who already receive a discount whenever they eat there in uniform.
Over the years, Big Al's also has donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, the Shop With A Cop program and to individuals in need, Gagliano said.
