"The Nutcracker":

The Kannapolis Performing Arts Center will begin its run of "The Nutcracker" at 7 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $17; $12 for children younger than 18. This year's production has a cast of 76 and includes dancers from Piedmont School of Music and Dance. The theatre will join with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra for two performances at Keppel Auditorium Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Prices range from $20-$25; $10-$12 for children younger than 18. The Carolina Christmas Spectacular:

Theater performance and four-course meal in dinner-theater setting. Bowling For Food Tournament:

The Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg will host its annual Bowling for Food Tournament 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Northcross Lanes, 16317 Statesville Road, Huntersville. Entry fee is $50 per team, with six bowlers per team. Individual bowlers are encouraged to participate and will be assigned to a team. Each bowler is asked to bring $20 worth of canned, non-perishable food or a $20 Food Lion gift card to benefit families in need as part of the North Meck Rotary's Christmas project.
