Cornelius and Huntersville are offering their sixth spring season of youth lacrosse.
Registration is Jan. 3 through 25 and is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through age 14. Competition is in divisions determined by gender and age.

For the instructional division (kindergarten through first grade) the fee is $60 for Cornelius and Huntersville residents and $70 for others. The volunteer auxiliary of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville has named five local organizations as recipients of its third annual charitable giving program.
Honored at a Dec. 6 luncheon were representatives of HealthReach Community Clinic in Mooresville, Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, Mooresville Soup Kitchen, Barium Springs Home for Children and Carolina Comfort Coalition at Serenity House in Mooresville.
Through fundraisers, auxiliary volunteers donate about $8,000 annually to community organizations. The auxiliary also provides about $18,000 annually in student scholarships. Details: 704-660-4112.
A new exhibition of works by Mooresville artist Lori Neill is on display through Jan. 12 at Art Works on Main, 165 N. Main St., Mooresville.
"First Light" is a series of Lake Norman oil paintings by the self-taught artist. Her art is in collections in the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States. Neill has been featured in several art publications and has exhibited and received distinguished awards in local, national and international shows.
