An animated film praised by noted critic Roger Ebert will be shown free at 7 p.m. Jan. 20, at the Davis Theatre in Cabarrus County's historic courthouse, 65 Union St. S., Concord. "Sita Sings the Blues" is part of the new "Modern Film Fest at the Davis Theatre" independent film series. Huntersville

Sirens around McGuire Nuclear Station will be tested at about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday. No public action is required during the three-minute test.

The City Council's January meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall. It was delayed from last week because of the New Year's Day holiday. It will be the last meeting at City Hall before extensive interior rehabilitation begins.
