Independent film to be shown in Concord

An animated film praised by noted critic Roger Ebert will be shown free at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Davis Theatre in Cabarrus County's historic courthouse, 65 Union St. S., Concord.

"Sita Sings the Blues" is part of the new "Modern Film Fest at the Davis Theatre" independent film series. Written, directed and animated by Nina Paley, it retells the epic Indian tale "Ramayana" in ancient and modern settings.
