McGuire Nuclear Station will host home-schooled middle and high school students 9 a.m.-noon Friday at its EnergyExplorium, 13339 Hagers Ferry Road, in honor of National Nuclear Science Week.

Cornelius

Hope House Foundation will present a "Heart of Hope" benefit 5:30-11 p.m. Feb. 5 at The Palace at Kenton Place, 17220 W. Catawba Ave. It will benefit the Huntersville-based foundation, which serves homeless women and children in the Lake Norman area. Tickets, details: www.hopehousefoundation.org.

Davidson

A concert at 1 p.m. today will feature Sid Krupkin, director of education for the Foundation for Respect Ability, an anti-bullying organization in Cornelius. It's at St Alban's Episcopal Church, 300 Caldwell Lane. The foundation is modeled on Operation Respect, led by humanitarian Peter Yarrow of the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary. The City Council recently honored Don Lambert, crew supervisor inspector technician with the street division, who retired Dec. 31 after 44 years with the city.

West Shore
