Cox Mill High School
All-district band: Cox Mill students recently auditioned for all-district band with roughly 1,100 other high school band students from the south central area of North Carolina. Three students made it into the group, and two of those students are now eligible to audition for all-state band.

SAT rescheduled: The Jan. 22 SAT scheduled at Central Cabarrus and Hickory Ridge has been rescheduled to Feb. 5. Test takers will be notified by mail. If you want to take the SAT at another time, go to the SAT website at www.collegeboard.com and change the location of your test.

Competition winner: Cory Honeycutt finished with the top score in the Second Year Division in the MCAA International Skills Competition at the World of Masonry.
Spirit week: Mt. Pleasant will recognize Spirit Week on Jan. 31-Feb. 4. Themes for this year's spirit week include: Favorite team day, camo day, decade day, twin day and blue-and-gold day.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences
Grant: Cabarrus College recently received a $5,850 grant from the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to implement an initiative to increase access to science degree programs. The program is designed to increase awareness of and access to higher education opportunities in health professions. Student ambassadors will be selected to facilitate an outreach initiative. These ambassadors will participate in activities to raise awareness of opportunities in health sciences.
