Get street-scale crime stats online

The Cornelius Police Department has recently joined the Omega Group's to increase awareness of crime in our town.

The hope is that being a part of that site will help reduce crime, since we will be more aware of what is going on in our town and, specifically, in our neighborhoods.

The site, www.crimemapping,com, allows us to see up to 90 days' worth of crime data, receive crime alerts and look for crimes near our homes. (I found a recent DWI near my neighborhood.)

To get on the site, go to above web address, click on the state of North Carolina, and click on Cornelius. Then you can access available data.

For more information call the Cornelius Police Department at 704-892-1363 or e-mail Christina Tadlock, police planner, at
