Symphony to honor heroes

The Salisbury Symphony's Family Concert at 4 p.m. today will honor "American Heroes." It's in Varick Auditorium at Livingstone College.

Tickets are $17 for adults; $4 for students ages 9-18 and $2 for ages 8 and younger.

The program will start with "America," sung by Teresa Moore-Mitchell as a nod to both Marian Anderson, the first African-American to sing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and Eleanor Roosevelt, who fought for Anderson's right to do so.
