Activities: Individuals can enjoy public ice skating at the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail. The facility offers public ice skating every day of the week and figure and hockey skate rentals are available. If guests would like to perfect their ice skating skills, the facility also offers year-round Learn to Skate Programs. The classes range from tot, freestyle and coffee club classes to synchronized skating teams.

After an afternoon of exercising on the ice, guests can dine at the Center Ice Tavern 6 p.m.-midnight Monday through Friday, and 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On Feb. 4-5, Extreme Ice will also host the Special Olympics.

Cost: $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children Monday through Friday. Skate rentals during those days are $3.50. Friday evening through Sunday, adults cost $8 and children $6. Skate rentals are $4.

Directions from uptown: I-277/U.S.-74 E. ramp to I-77/I-85. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Bobcats Arena and merge onto I-277 N./U.S.-74 E. Slight right at U.S.-74 E. (signs for N.C. 27 E./Independence Expressway). Turn left at Indian Trail Fairview Road.
