Concord

Speedway flag: A U.S. flag that once flew over Camp Dwyer in Afghanistan will fly over Charlotte Motor Speedway throughout May race weeks. The flag was flown at the base in honor of the CMS Pit Crew, a group of Charlotte Motor Speedway employees that engages in community outreach projects. The Crew supports 55 members of the U.S. Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Detachment Bravo, in Afghanistan by sending items.

Cabarrus County

Habitat dedication: Habitat Cabarrus recently dedicated the Ruth Mayfield home in Magnolia Crossing. It is the 126th home built by Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County. Habitat thanked Collegiate Challenge students from Waynesburg University, Waynesburg, Pa.; College of St. Scholastica, Duluth Minn.; Central Connecticut State University, New Brittany, Conn.

Harrisburg

Volunteer needed: The Cabarrus County Public Library is seeking a volunteer representative from Harrisburg to serve a three-year term.
