About 30 brokers and agents from the Lake Norman office of Keller Williams Realty in Cornelius helped May 12 with landscaping and building a lean-to at the nonprofit Hope House in Huntersville.
Hope House assists women who are temporarily homeless.
The Keller Williams office also provided funding for plants and supplies needed for the day. Agent Lisa Ducharme donated vegetable plants for Hope House's vegetable garden. Agent Bob Fletcher, also a general contractor, donated the lumber and building materials to construct the lean-to.
Landscape designer Jan Enright of Jan Enright Creations in Mooresville heads the ongoing landscaping efforts at Hope House and helped guide the May 12 work.
Carolynn Bayne of Cornelius, a licensed massage and bodywork therapist and professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, received the N.C. chapter's Debbie Long Memorial Community Outreach Award at the 2011 Spring Convention.
The $500 grant recognized her proposal to provide therapeutic touch massage to patients at the Lake Norman Community Health Clinic in Huntersville. The nonprofit clinic provides health care to uninsured Lake Norman residents.
Bayne has been a professional massage therapist for about nine years. She teaches workshops on well-being and self-care and is a Hospice volunteer, providing therapeutic touch to patients diagnosed with terminal diseases.
Sanctuary of Davidson Gallery and Gifts, 108 S. Main St., is hosting Crafty Saturdays arts and crafts sessions for children 9-11 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
Mountain State University, 517 Alcove Road, Mooresville, will host a leadership seminar, "Leading Others and Connecting Through Communication," 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Susan Rucker, lead leadership faculty member on the campus, will lead the seminar.
