Activities: With the snow finally melted and spring in full swing, visitors can pull out last season's swimsuits and make a day's drive to an area swimming hole. Tucked in the mountains of Western North Carolina, Hebron Colony Falls is located a short distance from the college town of Boone. Here, visitors begin by taking a brief, intermediate hike to get to the bed of boulders and small swimming pools. The boulders escalate in elevation up the mountain, making for a then difficult, but fun hike. For those less enthused about hiking, the smooth rocks also suffice for a nice sunbathing spot. After soaking in the sun, the river running over and around the boulders creates a cool refresher for guests. Visitors can also pack a picnic or purchase lunch in Boone to enjoy outside at the falls.

Cost: Free.

Target Audience: This attraction is for all ages, but adults should be mindful when accompanying small children. The hike could also be strenuous for some.
