Concord

Roberta Road bridge: Work is planned to begin this week to replace the bridge on Roberta Road over Wolf Meadow Creek. A detour travels on Old Charlotte Road, N.C. 49, and Stough Road, back to Roberta Road. The project is expected to be finished in mid-October.

Concord

Local government: The city of Concord is taking applications for "Concord 101," a free course that teaches about local government. It begins Aug. 30 and ends in November. Details:concordnc.gov.

Harrisburg

Soccer camp to fight hunger: Kicking4Hunger offers a free soccer camp for players ages 5-11 from 9 a.m.-noon July 14-16 to fight hunger. Campers are asked to donate canned goods to fight hunger. Financial donations are accepted as well. Details: bit.ly/l4AFR9.

Homeless families shelter: Cooperative Christian Ministry plans to celebrate the first year of its housing program for single mothers who have been homeless or were about to become homeless. An open house is scheduled 6-8 p.m. June 30 at The Mothers and Children Housing Ministry, 274 Spring St. N.W.
