Concord High

Fire Academy: The Fire Academy received a steel artifact from the World Trade Center. The artifact arrived at the school May 27 and a special ceremony is planned to dedicate the artifact in September. The Concord Fire and Life Safety Department also received two artifacts used in the World Trade Center Memorials.

C.C.Griffin Middle

Lowe's Toolbox Grant: C.C. Griffin Middle received a $4,170 Toolbox for Education grant from Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation. The grant will go toward the Gryphon Reading Sanctuary, which will feature benches, flowers, a butterfly garden and shade for students, parents and staff to enjoy. The community is welcome to help with the project on June 16-17. It is scheduled to be completed by August.

Cabarrus County Schools

Tennis camps: Middle and high school students can attend tennis camps at Jay M. Robinson 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. June 27-July1, July 11-15 and July 25-29. Snacks and drinks will be provided by the camp hosts.

Northwest Cabarrus High

Sketch contest winner: Elizabeth Christopher won third place in the Nasco Sketchables contest. She placed third among 400 entries in her category.

American University

National Student Leadership Conference: Addison White of Concord was selected to participate in the National Student Leadership Conference on Education and the Classroom at American University. At the summer conference, she will attend workshops and classes on leadership.
