Concord

Trash practice: The City of Concord's new solid waste service provider, Waste Pro, is operating trucks around the city as part of a driver-training program. Automated collection services begin July 5 picking up green garbage carts weekly and black recycling carts every other week. Check the collection schedule at concordnc.gov/whatsmyday.

Roberta Road Bridge work: The North Carolina Department of Transportation is replacing the bridge on Roberta Road over Wolf Meadow Creek. Estimated completion is mid-October. Motorists can follow the detour of Old Charlotte Road, N.C. 49 and Stough Road back to Roberta Road. Details: 704-983-4171.

Patriotic music: The Piedmont Choral Society will present a Patriotic Concert at 3 p.m. June 26 at Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 265 Union St.North.

Harrisburg

Business owners: Applications, including renewals, for a 2011-2012 privilege license are due June 30. All businesses must have a valid license to operate within Harrisburg town limits. New applications are required annually before each fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Fees also due with application submissions. Details: Janet Rackley, 704-455-5614.

Countywide

School summer hours: The Cabarrus County Schools Education Center is operating on summer hours, Monday -Thursday 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and closed Friday. Offices will operate on an eight-hour schedule the week of July 4.
