Lowe's YMCA anticipates 20,000 people will attend its July 3 Summer Celebration 4-10 p.m. next Sunday. The branch and its parking lot will be closed to the public that day, but the Y is offering 50 VIP parking passes at $50 per car. A free shuttle bus will run from Peninsula Baptist Church, 687 Brawley School Road.

Troutman

As part of the town's celebration of Independence Day, a street festival with more than 150 vendors will be Saturday on Eastway Drive near Town Hall. The annual parade will begin at 11 a.m. Festivities will end with a fireworks show at dusk at the county fairgrounds.

Statesville

The public is invited to opening ceremonies for Statesville Fire Station 4, 2-5 p.m. at 115 Martin Lane (near U.S. 64) today. The 12,438-square-foot station will open for service calls July 1. It will serve primarily the northeast section of the city fire district.

West Shore

The Denver Area Business Association has added a "Battle of the Bands" to its 11th annual Fireworks Festival at East Lincoln High School on Saturday night. Vote for your favorite of the six bands by visiting the DABA booth. Gates open at 5 p.m.; admission is free. www.dabanc.org.
