Wake Forest University

Dean's List: Sarah Matheson Davis of Harrisburg was named to the university's Dean's List for spring 2011. Davis is the daughter of Robert and Winston Davis.

J.N. Fries Elementary

NFL Play 60 Challenge: Students logged their physical activity from April 4-May 6 to win a $1,000 check from the Carolina Panthers for the school the opportunity to participate in a special pep rally next fall.

Central Cabarrus High

Carl A. Furr Elementary

First in Math: Second-grader Jonathan Jacobs has placed first in the school and the county with the most points for First in Math. He is also ranked 18th in the nation among second-graders playing the math program that enriches math skills.

Appalachian State University

Rhododendron Society: The Reich College of Education at Appalachian State inducted Richard Lapish of Concord into the college's Rhododendron Society in June. The Rhododendron Society recognizes graduates of Appalachian State who serve as teachers, librarians, human service professionals or administrators.
