Pizza lovers have three new options in town:
Queens Pizza, in the Bloom shopping center, across N.C. 150 from Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse. Owners Jaime and Mirna Moran are from Flushing, N.Y. They named the pizzeria after their home borough.
Queens Pizza serves specialty pizzas, rigatoni a la vodka and other pastas, crispy Buffalo chicken and other salads, wraps, stromboli, panini, calzones, cold subs, beer, soda and wine. The restaurant also has a children's menu and desserts.

Pizza Vito, in the former Donates Pizza space in Mooresville Crossing II (Best Buy), at Morrison Plantation Parkway and N.C. 150.
The Gainesville, Fla., chain was founded by the family of New York pizza maker Vito DiBartolo, who opened his first restaurant in Queens, N.Y., in 1966. Other N.C. locations are in Hickory and Chapel Hill.
The menu includes red, white and stuffed pizzas, salads, Buffalo wings, calzones, stromboli, cold and hot heroes and various Italian entrées. The restaurant's red sauce is from DiBartolo's 100-year-old family recipe.

Salty Caper, in Mooresville Town Square (Lowes grocery) at Brawley School and Williamson roads. The restaurant also has a Salisbury location.
Salty Caper features wood-fired pizza, including 12 gourmet pies. Other specialties include Sgabei, deep-fried strips of dough; and Fritti, a deep-fried mini-calzone filled with a candy bar and topped with powdered sugar and a drizzle of chocolate.

Showmars opening in Mooresville
MOORESVILLE Showmars, a Charlotte-based chain of casual-dining restaurants, plans to open its 28th location soon in the former Zaxby's space on Williamson Road near N.C. 150.
Restaurateur George Couchell founded Showmars in 1982. The restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, and for breakfast at select locations.
Existing Lake Norman-area Showmars restaurants are at 9605 Sherrill Estates Road, Huntersville, and 7260 N.C. 73, Suite 119, Denver. The Huntersville location opens for breakfast at 6 a.m. seven days a week, while the Denver Showmars opens at 10:30 a.m., for lunch.
