Cabarrus County Schools

Graduation rate: Cabarrus County Schools reported an 84 percent four-year graduation cohort rate for the 2010-2011 school year, according to data released today by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. The cohort graduation rate is the percent of ninth-graders who entered high school in 2007-08 and graduated four years later, in June 2011. The figure does not include students who take five years to graduate, students who leave high school for a community college GED or adult high school program and students with disabilities who completed grade 12 but do not qualify for a standard diploma. The results show a nearly 10 percent increase in the CCS four-year graduation cohort rate compared to last year. This year's CCS rate is 6.3 percent higher than the state average. CCS has not reduced the number of credits required for students to graduate.

Schools of Excellence: Three schools in the district were designated Honors Schools of Excellence: Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High, Cox Mill High and Hickory Ridge High. This designation indicates each school had more than 90 percent of students achieve a level-three proficiency rating on end-of-course and end-of-grade tests and it made Expected Growth and met Adequate Yearly Progress.
