Air Force Airman Devon M. Vorse graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Vorse completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Vorse is the son of Larry and Jeanne Vorse of Concord.

Christian T. Wells, son of Jennifer Fletcher Dougherty of China Grove and George R. Wells, of Concord, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Wells will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
He is a 2011 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School.
Navy Seaman Kevin R. Tremblay, son of Kevin J. Tremblay of Locust, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill, and received the Navy League Outstanding Recruit Award.
The award, sponsored by the Navy League of the United States, is given to a graduating recruit who has displayed the American spirit of honor, initiative and loyalty during training.
Tremblay is a 2007 graduate of West Stanly High School in Oakboro.
Pfc. Brandon Shull
Army National Guard Pfc. Brandon S. Shull has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Shull graduated from the split-option enlistment program, which allows high school students to attend basic training between their junior and senior years. He is the son of Traci and Kendale Huneycutt of Locust and a student at West Stanly High School in Oakboro.
Senior Airman Marquita L. Allen has been named superior performer during 2011 Compliance Inspection at Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, Md.
Allen is knowledge operator assigned to the Air Force District of Washington, D.C. She has served in the military for two years.
The daughter of Everette Andrews of Concord, Allen graduated from Concord High School in 2002 and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Fayetteville State University.
