Youth baseball/softball: Registration is open through Jan. 31 for Concord's youth baseball and softball leagues. Register online at www.concordnc.gov or go to any Concord recreation center 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Fees are $30 for Concord residents and $50 for others. Details: 704-920-5600.

Youth choral groups: The Choral Academy is scheduling auditions/vocal placement interviews for ages 7-20 to participate in one of three age-based choirs. Get social: In order to connect people and spread information more quickly, Cabarrus County Schools in December launched accounts on Facebook and Twitter. As of last week, the sites had more than 100 followers. The school system also will keep its other methods of communication.
