Representatives from area nonprofits can get free office supplies, furniture and other equipment at the Cabarrus County Surplus Giveaway scheduled for later this month.
The warehouse surplus giveaway will provide chairs, desks, file cabinets, desk sets, binders, printer cartridges, phones, workstations and other office supplies to qualified nonprofit organizations.
The event will run 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 19 at the county warehouse, off U.S. 29 north of Tractor Supply Co., at 103 Commercial Park Drive, Concord. Communications and Outreach Manager
"This provides a win-win by allowing the county to clear space in its warehouse and by providing no-longer-used items to local nonprofit organizations," said Communications and Outreach Manager Aimee Hawkins. "Cabarrus County has a commitment to the nonprofit community."

As part of the county's commitment, employees raised nearly $60,000 for their annual Cabarrus Helping Hearts and Hands campaign, which get distributed among select local nonprofits.
The surplus giveaway is for representatives of official nonprofit organizations that serve Cabarrus County. All items taken must be used by the agency and not re-sold.
Agencies are encouraged to register in advance by sending a copy of the agency's IRS Determination Letter (establishing its tax-free status). Nonprofits are asked to email the letter as an attachment to email@example.com or fax it to 704-920-3277.
Organization representatives can bring a copy of the letter when they come to shop.
