Cannon School: Camp Cannon will run June 11-Aug. 3.The camp will offer arts, science and sports. www.cannonschool.org/campcannon.

Cabarrus County Schools Spelling Bee: Harold E. Winkler Middle School seventh-grader Justin Allamby won the Cabarrus County Schools Spelling Bee on Jan. 5. Runner-up was Samantha Phelps, a sixth-grader at Harris Road Middle School. In third place was Melia Eaton, a fifth-grader at W.R. Odell Elementary School. Justin will represent Cabarrus County at The Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee at ImaginOn on Feb.1.

Magnet meetings: High School STEM, Jan. 30, 6:30 p.m. at Central Cabarrus High. High School International Studies, Jan. 30, 6:30 p.m. at Concord High School.

Furr Elementary: The Falcon Action Service Team was involved in several charities. The 28 fifth-graders collected 2,147 pounds of food, coordinated a toy drive and created cards for hospital patients.

Wolf Meadow Elementary: The school was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Cabarrus County Community Foundation. The grant will be used to fund the following after-school clubs: technology, drama, Spanish, reader's theater, caring and compassion, sports, run/walk/fitness, and gaming/strategy.

Northwest Cabarrus High: The Theatre II class performed the play, "Happily Ever After," Dec. 12-16 for all Boger Elementary grade levels.
