Racing manufacturer opens plant

A company that builds electrical systems in race cars and speedboats recently opened a full production facility in Talbert Pointe Business Park.

DCE Inc. plans to create 10 full-time jobs over two years at its new plant, at 119-B Poplar Pointe Drive, said Robert Carney, executive director of the Mooresville-South Iredell Economic Development Corp.

The company formerly operated in the United Kingdom for 15 years.

The facility will handle all aspects of a vehicle's electrical system, from initial design and production to roll-out and ongoing trackside support, Carney said. Products designed and built by DCE Inc. have been used in racing circuits worldwide, including NASCAR, Formula 1, World Rally, Superbike and F1 Powerboats.

JHE celebrates 25 years

To celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, JHE Production Group will give time and resources to serving nonprofit organizations throughout the country with "25 days of service."

Events will include the second annual "Golfing for Good" fundraiser, volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, assisting with a Habitat for Humanity home, serving at a soup kitchen, care packages for service men and women, a canned food drive and enhanced support with partners The Ryan Newman Foundation and Victory Junction.

"Twenty-five days of service is a great way to honor not only our employees who are the backbone of this business, but to give back to the community that has helped us grow," JHE president Jay Howard said in a statement.

"We have been so fortunate throughout these 25 years thanks to an amazing group of partners and employees."

JHE started in 1987 with its first client, Charlotte Motor Speedway, managing opening ceremonies for race events.

The company has since grown to provide full-scale event services.

Clients include Sprint, Coca-Cola, Bank of America and Chevrolet, along with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pre-race activities and track services, Professional Bull Riders, the Speed channel and Food Lion Speed Street.

JHE was recently ranked eighth in Business Leader Magazine's annual listing of the top 300 small businesses of the South.

It was named one of Promo Magazine's 100 top promotion and integrated marketing agencies and ranked by Inc. 500 on the 5,000 list of fastest-growing private U.S. companies for a fourth straight year. Compiled by Joe Marusak
