Take your furry friend to the grand opening of the off-leash dog park in Frazier Park at 2 p.m. next Sunday. The dog park at 1201 W. Fourth St. Extension has 1.3 acres of space, with separate areas for small and large dogs.
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will present its 10-year master plan 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Tate Hall, in the Overcash Building on CPCC's Central Campus. Park in the CPCC faculty/theater parking deck, off of East Fourth Street.
Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary, 248 Ridgewood Ave., will offer free programs at 10:30a.m. this week: Wednesday, “Attracting Birds to Your Backyard”; Thursday, “Native Plants in the Landscape”; Friday, “Fabulous Fall Container Gardens”; and Saturday, “Shrubs for Winter Interest.”
The Coventry Woods Neighborhood Association will hold a fundraising yard sale, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 18. It will be along Coronado Drive, in Coventry Woods – east of North Sharon Amity Road, several blocks north of Independence Boulevard. All proceeds will go to the CWNA. Rain date: Oct. 25.
