The victim has been identified as Antonio Herrera, a 25-year-old construction worker who lived with several other men at the house where he collapsed. Friends told police that Herrera, who worked for a construction company, had left a short time earlier to walk to a convenience store on nearby Rankin Avenue.
Police searched on foot for several hours and called in a canine search unit, but they did not find a suspect. Robbery is suspected as a motive in the case.
