Two people were found dead in their Gastonia home Sunday morning in a murder-suicide, according to the Gastonia Police Department.
The victims were identified by police as Jannee Court residents Brittany Leigh Bridges, 22, and her husband, Matthew Bridges, 24.
“The preliminary investigation appears to be a murder-suicide,” Sgt. J.L. Dobbins said.
Police did not give details about the circumstances of the couple's death, but in a release called Brittany Bridges a homicide victim.
The bodies were found by Brittany Bridges' mother, who was checking on her daughter when she couldn't reach her Sunday morning, Dobbins said.
The mother told officers the couple had been having problems. The mother said her daughter had stayed at her house Saturday night before returning to the Jannee Court home before sunrise Sunday.
Dobbins said the neighborhood is quiet. “We don't respond to too many calls out here,” he said.
