The first annual “Commitment to the Cause” celebration to support Caldwell County residents affected by breast cancer was held Oct. 10 in uptown Lenoir. Debra Venti, owner of She-Sha's Gift Shop and Venti's Casa Book Store in Lenoir, co-sponsored this event with Caldwell Memorial Hospital and the Center for Breast Health.
With her business partner, Terry Coleman, Venti unveiled a Pink Chair product line at the celebration, in advance of its unveiling at the High Point Furniture Market. They will donate a percentage of sales of this product line to be used locally in the fight against breast cancer.
Venti said that more than 18 percent of Caldwell County women over 40 do not have access to the easiest and most important screening for breast cancer. She asked that donations be made to Caldwell Memorial Hospital in care of the Pink Chair fund, which will help pay for mammograms in Caldwell County only. Donations can be made online at www.Pink-Chair.com or in person at She-Sha's gift store at 910 West Ave. in Lenoir.
Breast cancer survivors, patients, family members, supporters and caregivers marched down Main Street to the square as a part of the event. David Horn played the drums and Joe Delk played the trumpet to accompany the marchers.
