On Oct. 5, Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church hosted a celebration of 149 years of ministry.

The Rev. Jerome Cloninger led worship, which was held at Henry Fork River Park.

Cloninger was ordained at Mt. Pisgah on July 6, 2003. He now serves Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Neb.

Following worship, the congregation had a picnic and cookout.

This was the second of three celebrations that will culminate in October 2009 with a 150th anniversary service of thanksgiving for Mt. Pisgah's ministry.

The service will be held at Mt. Pisgah and will be led by the N.C. Synod bishop.
