Girls’ volleyball program: Registration is underway for Hickory Parks and Recreation girls’ volleyball program, open to girls ages 9-15. Players’ parents can register 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory.

Skills clinics for ages 9-11 will held at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 9 and 11 at Highland Recreation Center, 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory. Skills clinics for ages 12-15 will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 and 11 at Highland Recreation Center.

Youth lacrosse: Hickory Parks and Recreation will hold registration for youth lacrosse for boys and girls ages 5-15.

Players may register 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory. Residents living outside Hickory city limits must pay a $40 fee.

A parents and players meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at Highland Recreation Center community room, 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory. Practice session will be held 6-8 p.m. throughout the week starting Feb. 11 at Neil Clark Recreation Center with games on Saturdays.

Adult co-ed volleyball: Hickory Parks and Recreation will offer an adult co-ed volleyball league starting in February. Entry fee is $211 per team, in addition to a nonresident fee of $40 for any player living outside Hickory city limits.

Softball umpires clinic: Hickory Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with Newton Parks and Recreation Department, will offer a softball umpires clinic at 6:30 p.m. Mondays Feb. 15-March 9 at Hickory Parks and Recreation administrative office, 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory.

Those interested in umpiring softball must attend all clinics and register with the American Softball Association (ASA). A sanction fee of $36 must be paid to the ASA prior to umpiring in either Hickory or Newton leagues. Rulebooks and materials will be available at the clinics.

Adult softball meeting: Hickory Parks and Recreation Department will hold an organizational meeting for its men’s and women’s open, industrial and church softball leagues 7 p.m. Feb. 2 in the community room at Highland recreation Center, 1451 Eighth St. Drive N.E., Hickory. Team representatives must attend the meeting to participate in a league this season.

The meeting will address rules, as well as season dates and pre-season games. Entry fees are $455 per team, plus a $25 sanction fee to the American Softball Association. A nonresident fee of $40 applies to players living outside Hickory city limits.

Children ages 4 and 5 interested in playing T-ball can attend a skills assessment at 5:30 p.m. March 23 or March 25 at Kiwanis Park Field 3, 805 Sixth St. S.E., Hickory. Rain dates are 5:30 p.m. March 24 and March 26.

Children ages 9-10 interested in playing midget league baseball can attend a skills assessment at 10 a.m. March 7 or March 14 at Kiwanis Park Field 3, 805 Sixth St. S.E., Hickory. Rain dates are 2 p.m. March 8 and March 15.

Children ages 11-12 interested in playing little league baseball can attend a skills assessment at 11:30 a.m. March 7 or March 14 at Kiwanis Park Field 4, 805 Sixth St. S.E., Hickory. Rain dates are 3:30 p.m. March 8 and March 15.
