Student milestones Lake Norman: April 3, 2017

Grand Oak Elementary School students in Huntersville participated in the 2017 Jump Rope for Heart event during their physical education classes and raised a total of $13,821.64. The top fundraiser for the event this year was kindergartener Katherine Entas, who raised $1,215.00 to earn the top “Heart Hero” award.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

Top honors: Three CMS middle-school students took top honors in the 2017 Young Explorers Global Essay Contest sponsored by the Charlotte World Affairs Council. Kaelin Shirley of Ridge Road Middle took first place. Cathryn Paquet of Bailey Middle took second place. Chelsea White of Bradley Middle was third. The winners will be recognized at an April 20 lunch at the Charlotte City Club.
