Transition and Resource Fair: The district will hold a Transition and Resource Fair for transition-aged youth ages 11-21, families, special educators and specialists in Iredell County 4-7 p.m. April 9 at Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N. Main St., Mooresville. The fair will offer information about resources and services available within the community for students with disabilities who are transitioning to post-school ventures. Vendors will include local colleges, vocational rehab services, mental health services, legal services including financial options, transportation services and the Mayor’s Council for Individuals with Disabilities. Woodland Heights Elementary
School tours: Woodland Heights Elementary offers tours to new and prospective students 8 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and noon-2 p.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursdays. Cheerleading: A cheerleading try-out clinic for the 2015-2016 Brawley cheerleading squad will be offered 3:30-5 p.m. May 6 and 7. Official tryouts will begin at 3:30 p.m. May 8. ASVAB test: The ASVAB Career Exploration Program test will be administered at 8:15 a.m. April 23 at Lake Norman High. Students interested in taking this test, especially those interested in pursuing a career in the military, should sign up in room 427. The ASVAB test is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors.
South Iredell High
Softball camp: The South Iredell Softball Camp will be offered to fourth- through eighth-graders 9 a.m.-noon July 13-15 at the high school. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Sports drinks, water and snacks will be for sale during camp. Each camper will receive a T-shirt on the last day of camp. Early registration is $50, and late registration is $65. Summer camps: Camp Cannon has 120 enrichment camps available this summer for children ages 3 to 18. Camps will focus on the arts, sports, science and technology and college preparation. Camp Cannon runs June 8 through July 31 with the exception of the week of June 29. Most camp sessions are offered 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Full-day sessions are also available. Before and after camp care is available 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Camp offerings for older students include video game programming, Photoshop, web design, mod design with Minecraft, Java programming and mobile app development, jazz band introduction, youth rock orchestra and study skills.
