Open house: An open house will be held for students and their families 5-6:30 p.m. for seventh-graders, 7-8 p.m. for eighth-graders, both on Aug. 20.

Mandatory sports meeting: A mandatory concussion/eligibility meeting for students participating in sports during the 2015-16 school year will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 6 in the auditorium. This is the final time the meeting will be offered. Athletes participating in sports from all seasons may attend the meeting.
Blue Devil Boogie: The Mooresville High School Athletic Boosters will hold the Blue Devil Boogie BBQ & Blues on Sept. 12. The event will feature 5K and 10K races, a fun run, a barbecue picnic and live music. Runners must register by Aug. 31 to receive a race T-shirt. Registration is $30 before Aug. 31, $35 Sept. 1 through race day. Net proceeds from the race will benefit the Mooresville High School Athletic Boosters. Summer Transition Camp: Summer Transition Camp for rising sixth-grade students will be held 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12. Activities will include scavenger hunts, group projects, games an introduction to International Baccalaureate and meeting the teachers. Students need to attend only one session. Lake Norman High
PSAT registration: The PSAT will be given on Oct. 14 at Lake Norman High School. All 10th and 11th graders are eligible, but the test is optional. The test is free to 10th graders, and the cost is $20 for 11th graders. Payments can be made on the LNHS online payment system at http://iss.schoolwires.com/Domain/2732. Preregistration is required by Aug. 28. Freshman Summer Transition Camp: Lake Norman High’s Freshmen Summer Transition Camp will be held 1-5 p.m. Aug. 11, 12 and 13. Students need only attend one day. Students from the high school’s three feeder schools should have already received letters giving them an assigned day. Those who did not receive a letter or would like to request a different day should send an email to email@example.com.
South Iredell High
Freshmen Transition Camp: Freshmen Transition Camp will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 11 and 12 for all rising freshmen, both IB and traditional. Students need to attend both days. Check-in each morning is in the auxiliary gym. Students should bring bottled water as needed and wear comfortable clothing and shoes for possibly running around campus. Pickup is in front of G building. Transportation is available. Parking passes: Parking passes can be picked up 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 10 for rising seniors and 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 11 for rising juniors, both in the media center. All fines must be paid in order to receive a parking pass.
Coddle Creek Elementary
New principal: The Iredell Statesville Schools Board of Education confirmed the appointment of Susan Fail as the principal of Coddle Creek Elementary during its meeting on July 13. Fail has served as assistant principal at Troutman Elementary since 2010. She began her career with Iredell-Statesville Schools as elementary teacher in 2003 and later became an instructional facilitator and assistant principal at Cool Spring Elementary. She was named the district’s Assistant Principal of the Year in 2011-2012. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from New York State University and her master's degree in school administration from Gardner Webb University.
