Mission trip:

A group of 22 people, ages 16-65, traveled to Haiti this summer to work with Missionaries of the Poor. The daily routine included prayer and attending to more than 250 men, women and children, many of whom suffer from mental and physical challenges.

Denver Bible study:

Community in Christ, ELCA, is expanding into the Denver community. Small-group Bible study 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at AcuCare Clinic, 388 N.C. 16 N., Denver. Refreshments served.

Seniors’ group:

The Happy Times Seniors’ luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at Port City Club.

Prayer shawl ministry:

Intergenerational group creates shawls, chemo caps and other crafts that serve as a physical reminder of God’s unconditional love to people experiencing illness or other difficulty. The group meets 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23.

Card ministry:

Group provides handmade cards to pastors, lay pastors and staff. 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25. 7621 Norman Island Drive, Cornelius.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lake Norman

Sunday morning groups:

Humanist discussion group, adult discussion group, and youth spiritual exploration meet at 9:45 a.m. most Sundays. The Humanist discussion group will continue its discussion of UU principles.


The Rev. Amy Brooks will present “How to Talk UU or, What’s Your Elevator Speech?” Children age 4 and older go to spiritual exploration following the children’s story during the service. PFLAG (Parents, Friends, and Families of Lesbians and Gays) promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through support, education and advocacy.
