Book partnership: Main Street Books and the Hough High PTSA are partnering this school year to provide copies of book titles that Hough teachers assign for units of study. After teachers make book assignments, Main Street will make a bulk order and multiple copies will be made available for students to buy. Throughout the school year, the store will donate 10-20 percent of sales of books ordered for the school back to the PTSA.
Tenders gift cards: The PTSA is selling $10 Tenders gift cards for $7 at lunchtime on the first Tuesday of each month outside the cafeteria. The cards have no expiration date.
Record enrollment: Cannon School opened its school year on Aug. 17 with the largest student body in its history. During the summer, construction was completed on a dining hall expansion and renovated middle school space. The space includes a science lab, multipurpose area and brand-new ThinkTank room that features three-dimensional printers, robotics, circuitry and hardware to help integrate science and technology with the arts.
