Immunization deadline: Up-to-date immunization records and kindergarten and preschool health assessments for children attending Mooresville Graded School District schools must be received on or before Sept. 22 to avoid exclusion from school. Kindergarten and preschool health assessments must be completed no more than 12 months before the date of school entry. This year North Carolina made changes to the immunization schedule. Blue Devil Bonanza: Several events that are open to the community will take place during the Blue Devil Bonanza on Sept. 12 at Mooresville High’s Magnolia Campus:
Boogie, BBQ and Blues – 5K and 10K races and a free fun run will take place 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Race courses start outside the MHS stadium, proceed through Mooresville and finish on the stadium track. A celebration with music and barbecue will take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit MHS Athletics. Mooresville High School Band Mattress Sale – The band’s annual mattress sale happens 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the gymnasium. Ford Drive One 4UR School – Mooresville Ford will have several new-model vehicles available for test-drives 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the school’s front circle drive. For every vehicle drive (one licensed driver per household), Ford will donate $20 to help send Career and Technical Education students to participate in competitions.
AIG Parent Meeting: Iredell-Statesville Schools will host a regional meeting for parents of students in the Academically and Intellectually Gifted program 6-7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Lakeshore Elementary School. Items to be covered will include: identification, service options and frequently asked questions.

FFA Community Blood Drive: The FFA will host a blood drive 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Auxiliary Gym. Students wishing to donate blood can sign up and get details from Dana Wise in room 359.

N.C. School of Science and Math: The N.C. School of Science and Math will be at the school during Smart Lunch on Sept. 10 to speak to interested 10th-grade students. For details on the N.C. School of Science and Math, visit www.ncssm.edu.
Junior kindergarten buddies: On Aug. 21 , Cannon School welcomed 31 junior kindergarten students for the 2015 - 2016 school year. Each child was greeted by his or her senior buddy. Senior buddies are 12th-graders who are paired with junior kindergarten students for the year. Buddies often visit classrooms to read, eat lunch, play on the playground or provide a listening ear.
