The Mooresville Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Monday night in favor of a rezoning that will allow European grocery chain Lidl to open a 36,170-square-foot store on 4 acres along Williamson Road at Lake Norman.
Germany-based Lidl operates nearly 10,000 stores in 26 countries and intends to open stores in the Charlotte area beginning in 2018, including others in Indian Land, on Monroe Road in Charlotte and in Charlotte’s South End.
Construction of the Mooresville store could coincide with the town’s planned widening of Williamson to two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane, Mooresville Senior Planner Craig Culberson said.
