Weight Watchers has announced the launch of Lose for Good, a campaign created to empower people to get healthier while also giving to those in need.

For every pound lost by its members, Weight Watchers will donate the cost of one pound of food. The campaign ends Oct. 18.

The organization is also encouraging employees and members to participate in food drives. In Cornelius, the food collected at the Weight Watchers meeting location will be donated to Cooperative Christian Ministry. The group meets at the Cornelius Chair Factory, 20700 N. Lake Norman Health and Wellness is participating in Operation Paperback in September and October.

Operation Paperback is a nonprofit program to collect gently used books for American troops deployed overseas.

Books may be dropped off at the Lake Norman Health and Wellness office, 18047 W. Catawba Ave.

A Women's Lacrosse Clinic will be offered 1-3 p.m. Sept. 14 at Smithville Park,19710 S. Ferry St. The clinic is geared to women age 16 and older who are new to the sport or who are beginner-level players. Details: 704-892-6031, ext. 160.
