Plattner Custom Homes and Marquee Builders were selected as first-place winners in the 2008 Lake Norman Parade of Homes.

Marquee received first place for its 5,437-square-foot home. Judges favored the large master suite and complimented the ceiling features throughout. The home includes a stained-glass window in the master bath, a double landing staircase, and a full-stone fireplace.

Plattner received first place for its 6,200-square-foot waterfront home.

™The European design features exposed Douglas fir beams, a full finished basement, three fireplaces and two covered balconies. The judges recognized the home for its rock and beam craftsmanship, quality and best overall value.

The judges from across the Carolinas visited more than 40 homes, evaluating architecture, quality and overall value. Homes are located in the River Run community in Davidson and were honored by the Lake Norman Home Builders Association.

The Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and the Davidson College Jazz Ensemble will play the final 2008 Concert on the Green 6-8 p.m. today on the Village Green at Main Street and Davidson/Concord Road.

Each concert will feature a picnic contest with the theme “most collegiate.”
