Grace Covenant Academy will host its annual See You At The Pole event from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the ballfield. The entire school will pray for community leaders.
The N.C. Society of the Daughters of the American Colonists honored Eliza Mitchell Grant and Margaret Mitchell with the presentation of a bronze marker at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, where the sisters are buried. The sisters came to the forerunner of Mitchell Community College in 1875. Eliza served as principal, Margaret as her assistant and science teacher. Eliza died in 1883 following an illness. Margaret died in 1905. In 1917, the college was named for the sisters and their father.
Children's Community School, 565 Griffith St. in Davidson, will host an unveiling at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Building and Learning Together fundraising campaign allowed donors to name classrooms in the middle school and elementary school. Several of the rooms were named in honor of loved ones and will be unveiled.

The campaign also allowed some donors to have a professional artist paint their favorite book on a tile. These tiles will be on permanent exhibition in the new middle school media center.
