The Stork's Landing Maternity Center at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center welcomed more than 35 graduates of its special care nursery on Sept. 6. This was the fourth annual reunion since the level III special care nursery opened in 2004.
The event, hosted by the women's services nursing staff, attracted more than 150 guests, including alumni, their families, nurses and doctors. The families shared stories and experiences while the children played games, built sand castles and enjoyed Mickey Mouse-themed displays and activities.
Graduates also added their footprints to the Stork's Landing Lullaby Wall. The wall holds tiles representing more than 400 high-risk infants who have been cared for by Lake Norman's multidisciplinary medical team.
Wine Tasting for Hope, a fundraiser benefiting The Hope House Foundation, raised $3,300. The foundation received 100 percent of the proceeds. The event included a wine tasting, gourmet chocolates and desserts. Entertainment was provided by Hannibal and his “Walk Around Magic.” The event was Aug. 19.
The New Beginnings Singles Club of Lake Norman meets at 6:30p.m. on the third Thursday every month at Ten O'Clock Charlies Restaurant.
