Congregation Emanuel will hold Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services at the Synagogue in Statesville. Services will be conducted by Steve Kerbel of Rockville, Md., with Mitch Siegel of Salisbury as cantor.

Rosh Hashanah services are as scheduled: 7 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. Wednesday. Yom Kippur services are scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Oct. 8; and 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Oct. 9.

Huntersville Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Old Statesville, is building teams to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K run, Oct. 4; Davidson Housing Coalition's Ride for Hope for Housing, Oct. 4; and the CropWalk, Oct. 12.

Interested people will pay their own entrance fees and be responsible for their own fundraising.
