Jeff Gordon drive to benefit hospital

The Jeff Gordon Foundation will host the "Ultimate Speed-Dare to Race Jeff Gordon" charity 4-8:30 p.m. June 2 at Victory Lane Karting, 2330 Tipton Road, Charlotte.

The event will raise funds for the Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital, part of the Carolinas Medical Center in Concord. Invited Guests will have the opportunity to go-cart race four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Jeff Gordon.

The Jim O. Haker Memorial Golf Tournament will take place 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. June 3 at the Birkdale Golf Club, 16500 Birkdale Commons Parkway, Huntersville.

The event will raise funds for the Charlotte Volunteers in Medicine Clinic. Fees are $75 for individuals or $300 for a foursome and include the cart and green fees, range balls, breakfast, lunch and awards.

The members of PUSH America, a nonprofit of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity of Queens University, will participate in the Journey of Hope cross-country cycle trek on June 10.

The ride will raise funds for those with disabilities. Each team member is dedicated to raising at least $5,000.

The Concord Police Department will hold the "Cup for Curtis" golf benefit 7:30 a.m. June 15 at the Highland Creek Golf Club, 7101 Highland Creek Parkway.

All proceeds will go to the medical expenses of Officer Curtis Anderson, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The entry fee is $65, $60 for police, fire, rescue and military, and $240 for a foursome.

The Women Who Lead Luncheon will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 19 at the Westin Charlotte, 601 S. College St.

The event will honor female leaders, including Maya Angelou, and will raise funds for scholarships through the United Negro College Fund.

The Charlotte Senior Center will hold its fourth annual Golf Classic 8 a.m.-3p.m. June 21 at Pine Island Country Club, 1701 Stoneyridge Road.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will hold a 5K charity walk, "Walk Like MADD," 8:30 a.m. June 26 at Freedom Park, 1900 East Blvd.

The event will raise funds and awareness for MADD. The walk is one part of a larger MADD fundraiser, which has a goal of $42,500.
