East Lincoln

Camp dates: Dates for the 15th annual Mustang Boys Basketball Camps are July 5-8 and July 12-15. These sessions are divided into two groups with rising seventh- through 10th-graders attending from 8:30 a.m.-noon and rising third- through sixth-graders 1- 4 p.m. daily. Our 3rd camp will only be for rising 2nd through rising 8th graders.

Back to School Co-Ed Camp, Aug. 2-5, second to eighth grades only, 8:30 a.m.-noon daily.

All three weeks of camp will be held at East Lincoln High School. Preregister, $75; day of camp, $8. If you preregister for multiple weeks: twos weeks of camp, $140; three weeks of camp, $205.Applications may be picked up at the East Lincoln High School front office desk or you may call East Lincoln High School and an application will be mailed to you , 704-736-1860 extension 25603. There will be a $10 discount for families with two children enrolled in the Mustang Camp.

Blythe Elementary School

Safety Town: This one-week program is for children entering kindergarten in August 2010. The program teaches life-saving lessons on strangers, traffic, fire, pedestrians, guns, poisons, drugs, playground, bus and bicycle safety. 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. June 21-24. All sessions will be held at Blythe Elementary School. Details: E-mail Sgt. Tom Seifert at safetytown@huntersville.org. Applications posted on the Police Department's website, www.huntersvillepd.org and must be delivered to the Police Department in person. $50 fee. includes T-shirt, class photo, bicycle helmet, daily snacks and drinks. Make checks payable to Town of Huntersville. Huntersville residents only.

Hopewell High

Teacher of Excellence: Hopewell teacher Kristie Ballard has been selected as the May winner of the Harris Teacher of Excellence Award. The program provides recognition and financial rewards to 10 teachers each year who are furthering excellence in education. The teacher will receive $1,000 for themselves and $1,000 for the school.

J.V. Washam Elementary

Camp Invention: The camp sold out for the first week of July, so the school opened a second week July 19-22 with new curriculum. Sign up at www.campinvention.org or call 800-968-4332. Register with a friend to each receive $25 off the base price; the discount is not available to online registrants. .
