Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

The CMS summer schedule continues through the week of Aug. 12. Most CMS employees will work 10 hours a day, four days a week, and will be off on Fridays. Last year's summer schedule saved the district $450,000 by limiting utility use on Fridays. July 5 is a holiday and CMS will be closed. Employees will work 8 a.m.-5 p.m. July 6-9.

First day: The first day of middle and high school is Aug. 18.

Open house: The middle school open house is Aug. 17.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences

Courses online: The RN to BSN program is offering many of its courses online this fall semester to better meet the needs of working professionals. The program will go completely online beginning spring 2011, pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Articulation agreement: Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and Central Piedmont Community College recently developed an articulation agreement that provides a seamless transfer process for allied health students at CPCC to enroll in the Health Services Leadership and Management program at Cabarrus College. Students enrolled in CPCC degree programs such as medical assistant, medical lab technology, cardiovascular technology, surgical technology, and others, will benefit from this agreement.
